Automated scaffolding application

This project addressed the need for an automated scaffolding design and documentation workflow for Trebex AB, a leading Swedish manufacturer of steel bricklaying scaffolding systems for residential and commercial buildings. The primary objective was to develop a software solution that could automatically generate scaffolding configurations based on user-defined building geometry. To achieve this, a custom application was developed utilizing SketchUp as the platform, leveraging its intuitive interface and robust plugin development SDK. The application enables users to input the specific dimensions and features of a building, and in response, automatically generates a complete scaffolding layout tailored to those requirements. Key functionalities of the developed system include: Automated Scaffolding Generation: Intelligent algorithms determine the optimal placement and arrangement of scaffolding components based on the building's geometry. Bill of Materials (BOM) and Quantity Take-off: The system automatically calculates and compiles a comprehensive list of all necessary scaffolding elements and their respective quantities. Drawing Generation: Production-ready drawings of the scaffolding layout are automatically created, facilitating efficient assembly and installation. This lean and efficient approach, completed within a 3-4 month timeframe, significantly streamlines the scaffolding planning process, reducing manual effort, minimizing errors, and accelerating project timelines for Trebex AB and their clients. The choice of SketchUp as the development platform ensured ease of use and rapid deployment.
